Local Style Chips x Tukii *

This collection represents a vibrant fusion of storytelling, craftsmanship, and cultural celebration born from an unexpected yet powerful collaboration with Laura Gardner, founder and owner of Local Style Chips. What began as a single statement piece, created for the 2025 James Beard Awards, quickly evolved into a dynamic creative partnership rooted in trust, experimentation, and shared vision. Central to the collaboration was the innovative use of Local Style Chips’ own potato chip bags, which became the primary material for the garments. Their bold graphics, sheen, and structure served as the “fabric,” transforming everyday packaging into demi couture-level design. The initial design was more than a garment; it became a symbol of how fashion can amplify identity, brand narrative, and community pride. From that momentum, Local Style Chips expanded its reach by partnering with Portillo’s for National Hot Dog Week, where our collaboration took on new life. Together, we conceptualized and debuted a couture-inspired bomber jacket at the Chicago Bears game, an unexpected, bold intersection of sport, style, and culinary culture. The piece celebrated Chicago’s spirit through texture, silhouette, and playful storytelling, offering audiences a wearable homage to the city’s beloved traditions. This ongoing partnership reflects my commitment to merging artistry with authenticity, shaping garments that not only stand out visually but also carry meaning, memory, and connection. The collection is a testament to what happens when fashion becomes a bridge, uniting brands, communities, and creative voices into something unforgettable.
